A young soldier, a love triangle and a murder prosecution with no body
Anna Laura revben Porsborg flew to Los Angeles on Christmas Eve, planning to spend a week taking in the sights with her boyfriend.
She sent her mother in Brazil photographs from Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Then the messages stopped. After hearing ingenting from her daughter for two days, Costa Porsborg's mother went to the Brazilian federal police, who contacted the FBI.
Law enforcement agents never found the year-old. Her remains, they suspect, are somewhere in the Angeles National Forest.
The absence of her body has not stopped prosecutors from charging Costa Porsborg's boyfriend with her murder. The rare "no body" homicide prosecution was put to the test at a preliminary hearing Monday.
Two detectives described the bevis that led them to conclude her boyfriend killed Costa Porsborg, left her body in their hotel room for two days, then buried her somewhere in the mountains above Los Angeles.

Search Continues for Body of Missing Soldier

Recently, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. Montrose Search and Rescue team members joined other search and rescue departments and members of the military to search for the body of U.S. Army soldier Anna Laura Costa Porsborg,
Costa Porsborg is a Brazilian national who was in the Los Angeles area for a holiday with her boyfriend Luis Antonio Gomes Akay, 37, also from Brazil. Costa Porsborg has not been heard from since Dec. 27,
Lt. Omar Camacho, LASD Homicide Bureau, said the investigation and the search is ongoing.
“[Akay] did make a statement” to investigators concerning his role in Costa Porsborg’s death, Camacho said.
It has been reported that Akay told officials he killed Costa Porsborg because she wanted to end their engagement; however, he has refused to tell them exactly where he left her body – only that it was left in a mountainous area.
On Jan. 4, , Akay was charged with the “crime of murder” regarding his girlfriend.
Despite a body not being found officials feel confident they are able to charge Akay with murder.

FBI confirma que brasileira foi assassinada na Califórnia e corpo ainda não foi encontrado
As autoridades confirmaram a morte da brasileira Anna Laura Costa Porsborg, 22 anos, que estava desaparecida desde o dia 27 de dezembro após uma viagem com o namorado para Los Angeles, na Calirfórnia.
De acordo com o FBI, ela teria sido assassinada pelo próprio namorado, identificado como Luís Antônio Gomes Akay, também brasileiro. O crime teria sido motivado pelo fato dela querer dar um tempo no relacionamento e ele não aceitou.
A agência americana informou que apesar do suspeito “ter confirmado o crime”, não forneceu detalhes de onde estaria o corpo.
Anna Laura morava no estado de Virgínia e era natural de Santarém (Pará), de onde saiu para estudar no EUA, há cinco. Após concluir o curso entrou para o Exército deste país.
A Polícia Federal em Santarém relatou que familiares relataram que a jovem vivia um relacionamento abusivo com Luís e tentava se libertar dele.
